From the very first moment I stepped on JMU’s campus, CCM was the cornerstone community through which I built my faith, friendships, and love for learning. In my time at CCM, I had the gift of learning from so many students, leaders, faculty/staff, and missionaries who dedicated their time to ensuring our spiritual needs were thriving in and beyond the Sacraments. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, but it wasn’t until I saw the devotion of fellow classmates and missionaries that I received a desire to serve in a mission capacity myself. After enduring many hardships during my first year of teaching, I knew I wanted to continue being an educator, but I wasn’t sure how to accomplish that in a public education setting anymore. In that time, I was able to fall back on all of the lessons I learned at CCM, and all the preparation I received from fellow community members to make the decision to turn to Seton Teaching Fellows, a program that visited our campus my senior year of college. Seton offers a mission program with a teaching fellowship centered around faith, community, and education. CCM taught me that we can’t thrive without community and the Sacraments, so naturally I knew this would be an exceptional space for me to grow in love of learning and education alongside a community that brings everyone closer to God. I’m thankful for the support I’ve always had from my CCM community, and I’m excited to see how God works through this fellowship!
